I had heard that Julep is talking about discontinuing this program...so if you want to get in on it, you had best do it soon!

What is the Maven Program?

I thought I would put all the information for the Julep Maven Program on a page so that it is easier to access for everyone :)

The Julep Maven Program is a "beauty box" subscription program that is delivered to your door or mailbox on a monthly basis.  The cost of this subscription is $19.99 per month.  Read on to find out more!

First I would like to make a note that Julep currently only ships to the United States and Canada.  If you are "International", you will not be able to sign up for the Julep Maven program.  However, if you would still like to try Julep polish and/or products, check out the Julep Swap Facebook group.  This is a group of wonderful ladies who swap polish, especially Julep (though other brands are thrown in here and there).

To sign-up:
Use the link on the top right to start your "What's Your Style?" quiz to determine what Maven Style you are.  There are 5 of them - American Beauty, Boho Glam, Bombshell, Classic with a Twist, and It Girl.  When you complete your quiz, you will be shown your result.  From here you have a couple options:
  1. Love your Intro Box result? Wow -- does Julep ever know you!! :D  Continue with the checkout process.
  2. Not so keen on the products shown in your Intro Box result?  That's ok, simply re-take the quiz to get a different result.  (I was able to browse through the different Maven Style Intro Boxes but it doesn't seem like you can do that now.)
Now that you have your favorite Intro Box in your shopping bag, use the Discount Code FREEBOX upon checkout and you will get your Intro Box for only $0.01 (yes, seriously!).  I ended up having to pay for shipping ($3.99) but apparently that's not normal.  You should be able to select "Maven Shipping" in your shipping option for FREE shipping.  With the new site, you will now have to pay $3.99 for shipping on your Intro Box, but really, $4.00 for an Intro Box is still an awesome deal!  But don't worry, for your regular Maven Boxes (boxes received as part of the regular subscription) you will not have to pay for shipping.

Alright, so now what?  You will receive a welcome e-mail from Julep and a order confirmation.  Then you will have to wait patiently (as patiently as you can anyways) for your Intro Box to arrive.  Generally shipments to Canada take about 10 business days (2 weeks).  Just a note of caution, even though Julep provides a tracking number for your order through USPS (United States Postal Service), USPS does not always update their shipping information, and even if they do update it, once your parcel crosses the border into Canada, there is no way to track from there.

When you get your Intro Box, try out everything in it.  If you don't fall in love with every product.. I will.. not polish my nails for a week (or at least give it my BEST effort :P)!  Let me know what you think, send me an e-mail or comment below to let me know your thoughts on the Julep products, I love hearing what other people think.  I'm an addict and I'm bound-determined to turn you all into addicts too :D

So now that you are a Julep Maven, you will receive the following:
  • On the 20th of every month you will receive a preview for the next month's Maven Box.
    • Love what you see?  Perfect!  Do nothing!  Your Maven Box will be sent out on the 27th.  (Keep in mind the 2 weeks it takes to get to Canada.)  That is also when you will be invoiced.
    • Want to switch to a different style this month?  Fine!  Just log into your Julep account between the 20th and the 24th of the month to change what Maven Box you will receive.  You can do this as many times as you want in this time frame.  Julep will take your last selection as your "final choice".  You will receive an e-mail confirmation every time you change your selection.
    • Like something from another Maven Box?  Cool!  You can add it on to your Maven Box you have selected to receive.  Simply log into your Julep account and click on "Add-On" to see the list of add-on products (all the polishes and products from all Maven Boxes for that month).  Select up to 2 add-ons (additional cost will apply) to add to your Maven Box.  These will ship separate from your Maven Box, so you will receive them at a different time, you will also receive a separate shipping confirmation.  Again, you have between the 20th and the 24th to make up your mind (sometimes it'sSO hard to choose!!) and you can change this as often as you like in this time frame, but remember that your last selection will be the one that ships and you will receive an e-mail confirmation everytime you change your selection.
    • Don't like anything offered for the month, or can't do it financially?  That's ok, we understand.  With Julep you can skip your Maven Box for the month.  This is not an account cancellation.  This allows you to skip as many months as you want or need, without penalty, so that you don't have to fully cancel your subscription.  I like this, I had to use it one month when the car bills piled up.
  • All Mavens receive 20% off in the Maven Boutique.  Want something before the next monthly Maven Box comes out?  Simply click on the "Maven Boutique - Boxes" (where you can purchase past monthly Maven Boxes), "Maven Boutique - Polish", "Maven Boutique - Mani & Pedi Care" or "Maven Boutique - Best Sellers" (to see what everyone else is getting!) to find what you are looking for and automatically receive your 20% discount (no Discount Code required)!
  • All Mavens also receive free shipping, so if you purchase something other than the monthly Maven Box (no shipping charge on the monthly Maven Box), simply select "Free Maven Shipping" from the shipping options you will see a Discount on your total for your shopping cart of $3.99.  You will then have to select your shipping method, the cheapest being $3.99 but it balances out with the Discount so you get free shipping :D - TA DA!  Everyone loves free shipping!
  • Oh, and I almost forgot - if you don't skip your monthly Maven Box, there is a chance of "winning" the Golden Box!  100 (very) lucky Mavens are randomly chosen to win the Golden Box which contains ALL products and polishes from ALL the Maven Boxes for the month. 5 polishes from the Maven Boxes for the month depending on the style you chose for that month's box, plus your style product AND a bonus surprise!  How exciting is that?!  I haven't received one yet, but one can always hope!  And it's so exciting to see everyone that receives them (normally they will brag about it on the Julep Facebok page, lol!).
And to top it off, Julep has a Maven Referral/Loyalty Program.  You will get a referral link when you sign up (you can always view it and give it out anytime you want).  When you sign into your Maven account, on the left sidebar there is a button that says "Share on".  By clicking this, it will show you your invitation link as well as ways to share on Facebook and Twitter, and there is also an invitation code that new members can enter during sign-up to get you a referral.
If you click the "Reward Program" button located above the "Share on" button, you will see your loyalty reward points.  You earn reward "Jules" by:

     a) Referring a friend .. + 1000 Jules!
     b) Purchasing a monthly Maven Box .. + 300 Jules!
     c) Having a Birthday .. + 200 Jules!
     d) On your Julep Anniversary .. + 500 Jules!
     e) Upgrade your monthly Maven Box to the full collection .. + 750 Jules!
     f) Sign up to become a Maven .. + 100 Jules! (one-time only, obviously ;) )

So, you're wondering "what are these Jules for?"  Good question!  The Jules can be used towards your monthly Maven Box (costs 2000 Jules), Add-Ons for your monthly Maven Box (costs 750 Jules (per Add-On I imagine)), or Upgrading your monthly Maven Box to the full collection (costs 5000 Jules).
The Loyalty Rewards program is something new that came into effect mid-October 2012, so at this point when I am writing this, it's still pretty new!  I'm sure we will all get the hang of it when we see how it works :)

Also, if you "like" the Julep Facebook page, you will get the inside scoops on Flash Sales and *gasp* Mystery Boxes!  Us Mavens crave Mystery Boxes.  Julep does up Mystery Boxes  every once in a while, normally around a "special occasion" or holiday.  Since I have started, they have had lots.  So what's a Mystery Box?  When they come out, Julep will give us a link on their Facebook page to purchase a Mystery Box as well as a Discount Code.  Mystery Boxes retail at $60.00 but with the Discount Code it brings the price down to just $19.99.  The Mystery Boxes contain at least $60.00 worth of product up to and over $200.00 worth of product.  So what all do you get?  Well that's the mystery of it.  In my Mystery Boxes I have received, I mostly got polishes, which was fine by me cause I was a "new Maven" at that point so I didn't have much of a collection.  They will throw in some other products from their Mani & Pedi Care collection for you to, so you might get a foot scrub, or a basecoat, etc.  They are fun to open up because you just never know what you're going to get :D

So what happens if you don't absolutely love your Julep Intro Box?  Well that's pooie and I'm so sorry I lead you astray, but I know everyone has their own tastes and preferences.  You can simply call Julep at 1-877-651-3292 and cancel your subscription.  We don't want you to leave us, but if you must, we understand.

*Sidenote* There are a lot of people who have negatively commented about Julep's customer service and the fact that it's "not reliable".  Personally, I have never had an issue with their customer service.   I have gotten all of the boxes very quickly and have had no issues.   I had to stop a box one month and it was really simple.
